Fencing Carseldine

Boundary, courtyard and gate fencing for Carseldine's family homes and newer terraces, built in our Geebung workshop a short drive down Gympie Road.

Carseldine has two kinds of street. One has big family houses from the 1970s to the 1990s, with long side boundaries and fences reaching the end of their life. The other has terraces and townhouses with small courtyards and shared walls. Fencing in Carseldine has to suit both. Sureline Fencing has been making mesh fences and gates since 1996. Every site gets a free measure and quote. Call our Geebung team to book a measure for fencing in Carseldine.

Fencing in Carseldine for Big Backyards and Small Courtyards

A four-bedroom house on a full block needs a different fence from a terrace with a courtyard the size of a car space. Most fencing in Carseldine falls into one of those two jobs. Owners of older homes usually want a boundary fence replacement that lasts. Owners of newer homes want a tidy courtyard edge and a gate that closes every time.

We cover both. For larger lots we install chain wire fencing along side and rear lines. For compact homes we build short runs and pedestrian gates to the exact opening. You can also pick up fencing supplies in Carseldine and nearby from our Geebung outlet if you would rather do the job yourself. That flexibility is what fencing in Carseldine calls for.

Why Carseldine Homeowners Choose Sureline

Carseldine grew quickly from the mid-1970s, and many of the homes built then still have their first or second boundary fence. At the same time, newer terrace and townhouse homes have added shorter, tighter boundaries. Good fencing in Carseldine means knowing how to handle both scales of job without overcharging on the small one.

Our business opened in Northgate in 1996. Ten years later it shifted to bigger premises in Geebung so we could make more of our own product. We make gates and fence parts ourselves, so a courtyard gate is built for the opening you have. We also take on the small jobs other crews turn down. If you need a fence contractor Carseldine owners can reach quickly, our workshop is a short drive away. Every quote for fencing in Carseldine is free and in writing.

Fencing Services for Carseldine Homes

We have grouped our fencing in Carseldine around the suburb's two housing types. Pick the one that matches your property, or call us to talk through fencing in Carseldine for a mixed job.

Boundary Fence Replacement for Established Homes

Older family homes often carry long side and rear boundaries with rusted posts or mesh that has lost its tension. We remove the old line, set new posts in concrete and install galvanised or black chain wire. For a dividing fence, we give both neighbours the same written specification so the cost conversation is simple.

Best for: 1970s to 1990s houses on full-size lots

Courtyard and Terrace Home Fencing

Terrace home fencing works in small spaces, so every post position matters. Our courtyard fencing uses short runs that keep dogs in, frame a courtyard neatly and leave room for bins and hoses. Black powder-coated fencing suits modern facades and almost disappears against planting. We can also frame steel gates to take timber palings where a softer look is wanted.

Best for: terraces, townhouses and compact new homes

Pedestrian Gates and Driveway Gates

Pedestrian gates see daily use from school runs, deliveries and dog walks, so they need to swing freely and latch every time. Each steel frame is cut and welded in Geebung to fit the opening we measured, whether it is a narrow side gate or a wide driveway pair. Custom gates can be ready in 48 hours.

Best for: side paths, courtyard entries and driveways

Repairs to Fences and Gates

Fence repairs Carseldine owners ask for most include leaning posts, slack mesh, dropped gates and worn latches. We look at the cause first, often a moved post or a failed footing, then fix that so the repair holds through the next storm season. No job is too small to book.

Best for: any home with a tired fence or gate

DIY Kits and Supply-Only Orders

Some owners prefer to fence a courtyard themselves. Our Geebung outlet sells mesh, posts, rails, fittings and DIY kits, and the staff behind the counter also fit these products on real jobs. Trade buyers looking for fencing supplies Carseldine jobs need are welcome at the retail and wholesale counter. Chain wire fence kits can often be made to order within 48 hours.

Best for: DIY owners and builders

Local context

Local history records that Carseldine was named in 1975 after William Carseldine, a fencing contractor who settled at Bald Hills in 1858. The suburb was once the southern part of Bald Hills. It grew fast from the 1970s, and about 10,093 people lived here in 2021 (ABS). On the old QUT campus, Carseldine Village is adding homes under a masterplan approved in November 2018, including 182 net-zero-energy terrace homes, with about 75% of the bushland kept.

Common challenges

The result is a suburb of two scales. Established homes have long boundaries with ageing posts and mesh. Newer terraces and townhouses have short runs, tight access and little room for a crew to work. Fencing in Carseldine often means switching between both types of job in the same street.

Why it matters

A sagging rear fence on a large block lets pets out and invites disputes with neighbours. On a terrace, a poorly placed post can block a courtyard or a gate path. Carseldine Village also sits inside a Priority Development Area assessed by Economic Development Queensland, so owners there should check what their lot allows before building.

Our approach

For fencing in Carseldine we start by asking which type of home we are fencing. On older lots we look for buried footings and confirm where the survey line runs before we price the work. On compact lots we plan post spacing and gate swing around the courtyard. Either way, fencing in Carseldine gets a clear written quote.

Carseldine Fence Problems We Fix Most Often

Three complaints come up again and again when owners call about fencing in Carseldine. Sound familiar? We can inspect for free and tell you whether a fix or new fencing in Carseldine is the better spend.

"Our back fence is older than the kids"

Many Carseldine homes went up between the mid-1970s and 1990s, and some boundary fences date from then. Posts rust at ground level and mesh loses tension over decades of wet summers.

An old fence can lean or fail in a storm, and gaps let pets escape into the street.

We assess the whole line, then quote either a section repair or a full boundary fence replacement with new posts set in concrete. Watch for rust at the base of posts and mesh that bulges when pushed.

"There's no room to swing a gate in our courtyard"

Terrace and townhouse courtyards are small, and a standard gate can clash with bins, a clothes line or a step.

A gate that can't open fully gets propped or left unlatched, which defeats the reason for fencing a courtyard in the first place.

We measure the space and build a gate to suit, choosing the width, hinge side and swing direction that works. Where a swing gate won't fit, we can talk through a sliding gate option.

"The neighbour wants to replace the side fence"

Adjoining homes built at the same time often have dividing fences that wear out together, and owners may want different styles.

Queensland's Neighbourhood Disputes (Dividing Fences and Trees) Act 2011 splits the cost of a sufficient fence evenly between the two owners. It also sets out a written notice step, and QCAT settles it when owners stay deadlocked.

We give both owners one written quote and specification so the choice and the cost are clear from the start.

Do you do fencing in Carseldine Village and other new estates?

Yes. We quote fencing in Carseldine for new terraces and townhouses as well as older homes. Carseldine Village sits inside the Fitzgibbon Priority Development Area, where Economic Development Queensland assesses applications, so check your lot's rules and any body corporate requirements first. Bring those details to the measure and we will build a courtyard fence and gate to suit them.

What fence suits an older Carseldine family home?

For a long side or rear boundary, chain wire is hard to beat. It installs quickly over a long run, lets air and light through and can be repaired one section at a time. Galvanised is the practical pick. Black powder-coated mesh looks darker and sits quietly behind shrubs. We can also build matching pedestrian gates and driveway gates for the front of the block.

How is a shared side fence paid for in Carseldine?

The Neighbourhood Disputes (Dividing Fences and Trees) Act 2011 says each owner pays half of a sufficient fence. Start by giving your neighbour written notice of the fence you propose. Owners get one month to reach agreement, and QCAT can step in after that. We supply one itemised quote so both households are looking at the same figures.

Is building approval needed for a Carseldine fence?

Usually not. Council approval is triggered once the combined height of fence, screen and any retaining wall tops 2 metres above natural ground, or where the fence is part of a regulated pool barrier. An overlay or neighbourhood plan may add its own conditions. A quick search of your address in Brisbane City Plan will show them, and we raise any concerns on site.

What will fencing in Carseldine cost?

The total comes down to metres of fence, height, mesh type, finish, gate count, ground conditions and any removal of the old line. A phone guess would be unreliable, so we visit, measure at no charge and itemise every part of the price. Lining up chain wire fencing Carseldine quotes side by side? Make sure each one prices the same height, finish and number of gates.

When could work begin?

That hinges on how big the job is and what is already booked in. Being based in Geebung, we can usually fit a Carseldine measure in quickly. Gates made to order can be finished within 48 hours. Phone (07) 3865 8100 and our team will give you a start date you can plan around.

Carseldine's Story and Our Geebung Base

Carseldine has an unusual link to our trade. The suburb was named on 16 August 1975 after William Carseldine, a fencing contractor who arrived in 1854 and settled at Bald Hills in 1858. Before that naming, the area was the southern part of Bald Hills. Dairy farms, pigs and pineapples filled the land, and the Graham family's dairy was cut into nine small-farm lots in 1910. A college of advanced education later opened near the station and became QUT Carseldine, which left in 2008. The population grew from 1,145 in 1976 to 8,746 in 2011. Today our Geebung crews handle fencing in Carseldine for older homes and new terraces alike.
