Fencing Nudgee

Long chain wire boundaries, custom gates and repairs for Nudgee's bigger blocks, creek-side lots and newly subdivided land, made in our Geebung workshop.

Some Nudgee blocks are a lot bigger than a standard suburban lot, and that changes the job. More metres of fence means more posts, more bracing and more reasons to get the line right the first time. Since 1996 our family business has made chain wire and steel gates for northside properties. We walk every metre of your boundary, then send a free quote in writing. From a long rear run near Nundah Creek to a fresh lot in a new subdivision, we handle fencing in Nudgee from start to finish. Call us about fencing in Nudgee this week.

Planning Fences for Nudgee's Longer Boundaries

Nudgee is boxed in by the Gateway Motorway, Kedron Brook and the Shorncliffe line. Inside those edges you'll find the golf course, Nudgee Cemetery, the waterhole reserve and a real mix of lot sizes. When a boundary stretches further, small mistakes in post spacing or tension show up along the whole run.

That is why fencing in Nudgee needs careful planning. We set out the line, brace the corners and ends, and choose chain wire or weld mesh to suit the job. Owners can also collect fencing supplies Nudgee projects call for at our Geebung outlet. Your fencing in Nudgee kicks off with a measure that costs nothing.

What Nudgee Owners Get from Sureline

A long run of fence is only as good as its end posts and bracing. We manufacture our own posts, rails and mesh in Geebung, so a large block fencing job isn't held up by a supplier running short halfway along the boundary. That same workshop welds up gates to order, and a custom gate can be ready inside 48 hours.

Between them, our installers have spent over 90 years building fences, yet no job is too small, whether it's a single broken gate or one bent panel. As a fence contractor Nudgee owners can call on from a few suburbs away, we measure the whole boundary before we price anything. Every quote for fencing in Nudgee lists each item in writing, so you can see where the cost goes on a long job. That makes fencing in Nudgee easier to plan and budget.

Fences and Gates We Install in Nudgee

These services cover the jobs we see most for fencing in Nudgee, from long boundaries on older holdings to first fences on newly created lots. We quote fencing in Nudgee only after walking the full line.

Long Boundary Chain Wire Fencing

A long boundary fence needs straight lines, solid corner bracing and even tension from end to end. We concrete each post, strain the mesh one section at a time and fit a bottom wire or rail so pets stay inside. Galvanised mesh suits a practical rear run, while black powder-coated mesh fades into trees and garden beds.

Best for: bigger residential blocks and rear boundaries

Chain wire for long runs

Subdivision and New Lot Fencing

When a larger parcel is split into new lots, each one needs its own boundaries. We fence new lots for owners and builders, and set out gates where driveways will go. Subdivision fencing works best when neighbouring lots share one consistent height and finish, so we can quote several lots together if you ask.

Best for: owners, builders and developers of new lots

Fencing for building sites

Wide Vehicle Gates

Bigger blocks often need room for a trailer, boat or ride-on mower. We build wide vehicle gates, double swing gates and matching walk-through gates in steel, each made to the measured opening. Where there's no space for a swing, our sliding gates run on tracks rated for the load.

Best for: blocks with trailers, sheds or side access

Gate styles we make

Weld Mesh and Security Fencing

Weld mesh fencing is stiffer than chain wire and harder to cut or climb. It suits sheds, storage areas and boundaries that back onto public land or open space. We also supply palisade steel for owners who want a stronger visual barrier at the front of a property.

Best for: sheds, storage yards and exposed boundaries

Repairs, Materials and Kits

We re-tension sagging runs, replace bent posts and rehang gates that have dropped. For fence repairs Nudgee owners want to tackle themselves, the Basalt Street counter stocks mesh, posts, fittings and DIY fencing kits, and the installers behind it can answer your questions. Chain wire fence kits are often made to order within 48 hours.

Best for: handy owners and trade buyers

  • 14.5% semi-detached or townhouses Source: ABS Census 2021, Nudgee QuickStats

Local context

Nudgee covers about 3.9 km², bounded by the Gateway Motorway, Kedron Brook and the Shorncliffe line. Nudgee Golf Club, Nudgee Cemetery and the Nudgee Waterhole Reserve take up large areas. Detached houses make up most homes for its 4,377 residents (ABS 2021), and some larger parcels remain, including one 2016 proposal for 21 lots next to Nundah Creek.

Common challenges

Lot sizes vary a lot, so one street can hold a compact new lot and a much longer boundary. Land beside Nundah Creek or Kedron Brook can stay soft after heavy rain, and Brisbane's wettest stretch runs from December to March. Some parcels carry environmental zoning, which can affect where a fence line goes.

Why it matters

On a long run, one weak end post can let the whole fence sag. A fence in soft ground can lean after storms. On a new lot, a boundary set in the wrong spot is costly to move. With many owners carrying a mortgage, nobody wants to pay for the same fence twice.

Our approach

Before any fencing in Nudgee goes in, we confirm the boundary, check ground conditions and suggest checking City Plan for any zoning or overlay. We space and brace posts for the full length and set deeper footings where the ground is soft. That way, fencing in Nudgee keeps its line for years.

Nudgee Fence Problems and Our Fixes

Owners bring up these problems most with fencing in Nudgee, particularly on bigger blocks and near the creeks. One look on site tells us if repairing or rebuilding suits your fencing in Nudgee better.

"The back fence sags in the middle"

Long runs with too few strainer posts or weak corner bracing lose tension over time, and the mesh bows between posts.

A sagging fence looks untidy, opens gaps along the ground and droops further after each storm.

We add or replace strainer posts, brace the ends and corners properly and re-tension the mesh in sections. Where the mesh is past saving, we replace the run with new chain wire. Signs to watch for: bowed mesh, leaning end posts, loose tie wires.

Fence repair service

"The posts near the creek have started to lean"

Ground near Nundah Creek or Kedron Brook can stay wet after heavy summer rain, and shallow footings shift in soft soil.

Leaning posts pull the whole line out of shape and can let the fence fall in a storm. Council puts Brisbane's storm season between October and March.

We reset posts with deeper concrete footings suited to the ground and re-tension the run. Chain wire fencing Nudgee owners choose for these spots lets water and debris pass through more easily than a solid fence.

Chain wire near creeks

"We've bought a new lot and don't know where to start"

New lots from a subdivision often come without fencing, and neighbours may be building at different times.

Without a plan, you can end up with mismatched fences, gates in the wrong place and a dispute over shared costs.

We measure the lot, plan gate positions around your driveway and put a quote in writing that your neighbours can read too. Queensland law generally has adjoining owners split the cost of a sufficient dividing fence.

Can you fence a larger block in Nudgee?

Yes. Longer boundaries are a regular part of our fencing in Nudgee. We walk the full line, plan post spacing and bracing for the length, and position gates where you need vehicle access. Because we make posts and mesh ourselves, materials for a long run don't depend on an outside supplier. We'll quote the whole boundary or the sections you need first.

What fence suits a lot next to Nundah Creek or Kedron Brook?

Chain wire is often a practical choice near a creek. It is open, so water and debris can pass through, and damaged sections can be repaired one at a time. We set posts in concrete with footings suited to the ground. Some parcels near the creeks carry environmental zoning, so check City Plan before settling the fence line.

How is a fence between two new Nudgee lots paid for?

Adjoining owners in Queensland usually contribute half each towards a sufficient dividing fence, under the Neighbourhood Disputes (Dividing Fences and Trees) Act 2011. Whoever wants the work sends a written notice, both sides get one month to settle it, and QCAT steps in if you can't. A single itemised quote from us lets both owners look at identical details.

Is weld mesh or chain wire better for a shed or storage area?

For a shed, trailer bay or storage area on a bigger Nudgee block, weld mesh fencing is the tougher choice. Its rigid panels are harder to cut, climb or push in. Chain wire is the more cost-effective option and suits long, open boundaries. Many owners combine the two, using chain wire around the block and weld mesh where valuables are kept.

What does fencing in Nudgee cost?

Your quote reflects total metres, height, mesh, finish, how many gates and how wide, ground conditions and any old fence to pull out. Long runs need extra posts and bracing, so we measure before pricing anything. Measuring is free and the quote comes itemised. Prefer to build it yourself? We can price supply-only materials instead.

How soon can a crew get started?

That comes down to how big the job is and what our calendar looks like. Nudgee is a short trip from Geebung, so measures are easy to fit in, and we can finish a custom gate within 48 hours. Chain wire fence kits can often be made to order within 48 hours as well. Ring (07) 3865 8100 for a start date you can plan around.

Sureline Fencing: Serving Nudgee from Geebung

Nudgee's name comes from the Yuggera word recorded as "nardha" or "nedgee", meaning place of ducks. Farms were spread across the district by the 1860s, and the Toombul Vineyard operated from 1866 until the 1930s. The railway station opened in 1882, followed by sales of house and farm allotments. Nudgee Golf Club was founded in 1930 on former Childs family vineyard land. The population peaked at 3,189 in 1961, fell to 1,891 by 1991, then grew again to 4,377 by 2021. Our Geebung workshop, a few suburbs away, supplies and builds fencing in Nudgee today.
