Fencing Kippa-Ring

Ball-stop fences, backstops and court enclosures for the clubs and homes around the peninsula's main sporting fields.

Kippa-Ring is the sporting heart of the Redcliffe peninsula. Talobilla Park hosts baseball, rugby league and softball, and AJ Kelly Field is home to Peninsula Power. Those grounds need tall fences that stop balls, guide spectators and stand up to wind. Our tennis court fencing Kippa-Ring work, and the wider sports ground fencing we build, covers club grounds, school courts and private tennis courts. Every fence installation Kippa-Ring clubs book gets gates made in Geebung, and we install fencing in Kippa-Ring with heavier posts where height and wind demand it. Tall Fencing for Kippa-Ring's Fields and Courts

In 2004 the Redcliffe Padres moved to new baseball diamonds at Talobilla Park, built on an old landfill reserve (Wikipedia). Sports grounds need taller, more heavily engineered fences than most homes. Ball-stop fences can reach several metres, and every extra metre adds wind load to the posts and footings.

We install tennis court fencing, ball-stop runs and chain wire spectator barriers. Club committees get a clear scope for fencing in Kippa-Ring before they vote on the spend. Homeowners with a backyard court get the same care with fencing in Kippa-Ring.

Why Kippa-Ring Clubs and Court Owners Choose Sureline

Tall sports fencing is a structural job. Posts must be sized and footed for the height, and the mesh must be tensioned evenly so it doesn't belly in the wind. We have installed chain wire fencing since 1996 and hold QBCC licence 1016362. As a sports fencing contractor, we fabricate gates and components in our Geebung workshop, so a double maintenance gate or a custom backstop panel is made to fit. That is why clubs and court owners trust us with fencing in Kippa-Ring.

We also know that clubs run on volunteers and tight budgets. We meet the committee or groundskeeper on site, agree the heights for each section and give an itemised quote that can be staged across seasons. Work is scheduled between fixtures, so the work is planned around your next fixture. Our team has more than 90 years of combined experience. Whether it is a 2.7 m home court or a 4 m backstop, we'll explain the trade-offs in plain terms before you commit to fencing in Kippa-Ring.

Sports and Court Fencing Services in Kippa-Ring

Clubs, schools and court owners mostly ask us for these five. Each can be a stand-alone piece of fencing in Kippa-Ring, or several can be bundled so fencing in Kippa-Ring is done in a single off-season.

Tennis Court Fencing

Tennis court fencing is usually 2.7 m for recreational courts and 3.0 m as a standard, rising to 3.6 m to 4.2 m for clubs. We install 50 mm mesh as standard, with 40 mm available, on heavy posts with mechanical tensioning. Home courts and club courts are both welcome.

Best for: home and club courts

Ball-Stop Fencing

Ball-stop fencing behind goals, nets and outfields keeps balls out of car parks, roads and neighbouring yards. We set the height to suit the sport and the distance to the hazard. Taller runs get heavy-duty posts and extra bracing for the wind.

Best for: fields near roads

Baseball Backstop Fencing

Baseball backstop fencing behind home plate takes repeated hits from foul balls. We use heavy-duty mesh and posts, with panels shaped to protect the dugouts and spectators. Height and wing walls are set to the diamond's layout and the club's needs.

Best for: diamonds

Spectator Barrier Fencing

Spectator barrier fencing keeps crowds back from the playing area while leaving a clear view. Lower chain wire with a top rail is common, with gaps or gates for players and officials. PVC-coated court fencing finishes in green or black look tidy on a showpiece ground.

Best for: match-day crowds

Double Maintenance Gates

Double maintenance gates let mowers, line markers and emergency vehicles reach the field. We fabricate them to the width needed, with drop bolts and lockable latches. Smaller pedestrian gates can be added for players and the public. Each leaf is hung on heavy hinges to cope with daily use.

Best for: groundskeeping

Local context

Kippa-Ring's sporting land has a long history. In the 1860s the northern part was surveyed as a water reserve, and it is now parkland with sports ovals. Talobilla Park was built on an old landfill reserve and hosts several codes. With many families and larger homes, the suburb also has its share of backyard courts and school sports areas.

Common challenges

Tall fences catch a lot of wind, so posts and footings must be designed for the load. Ground built on fill can be soft or uneven. Balls hit the same panels again and again, which loosens mesh and fittings. Work also has to fit between seasons and fixtures.

Why it matters

A ball-stop fence that leans or bellies can fail in a storm. Loose mesh lets balls through to roads and car parks. A fence that is too low leads to complaints from neighbours and lost equipment. Clubs also lose volunteer time chasing balls.

Our approach

We set heights section by section, size the posts for the wind and tension the mesh mechanically. On soft ground we deepen footings. Then we stage the job around the fixture list. That keeps fencing in Kippa-Ring practical for volunteer-run clubs. Every gate is tested so fencing in Kippa-Ring is planned around your fixtures.

Kippa-Ring Sports Fencing Problems and Our Solutions

Groundskeepers and court owners tell us about these three problems most. Here's how we fix each one as part of fencing in Kippa-Ring. Ring us to book an inspection of fencing in Kippa-Ring at your ground.

"The backstop mesh is bulging and torn"

Repeated ball strikes stretch the mesh and break ties, especially where posts are too far apart.

Balls start getting through, putting spectators and dugouts at risk.

We replace the damaged panels with heavy-duty mesh, close up post spacing where needed and re-tension the run mechanically. New ties and fittings are fitted throughout, so the backstop takes impacts evenly again. We can add extra bracing too.

"The court fence leans after every storm"

Tall fences act like a sail, and posts set too shallow or too light slowly lean with each wind event.

A leaning court fence can collapse in a storm and is costly to fix after the fact.

We reset or replace the posts with heavier sections in deeper concrete footings and add bracing. Then we re-hang and tension the mesh. For a new court, we size the posts for the height from the start.

See tennis court fencing

"Mowers can't get onto the field"

Older grounds were fenced with narrow pedestrian gates, and modern mowers and line markers are wider.

Ground staff lift panels or cut corners, damaging the fence and the turf.

We fabricate a double maintenance gate to the width of your equipment and install it with heavy posts, drop bolts and a lockable latch. A separate pedestrian gate can sit beside it for daily use.

Fencing in Kippa-Ring: Frequently Asked Questions

How high should a tennis court fence be?

Recreational courts are usually 2.7 m, with 3.0 m as a common standard. Club courts often use 3.6 m to 4.2 m, and high-use courts can go higher. Fences over 2 m above natural ground generally need building approval in Moreton Bay, so we allow for that when planning fencing in Kippa-Ring.

Can you fence a backyard tennis court?

Yes. We install fencing for private tennis courts as well as club and school courts. A home court usually uses 2.7 m to 3.0 m chain wire, often PVC-coated in green or black so it blends with the garden. We'll check the footings, slope and access before quoting. Your fencing in Kippa-Ring can also include a matching gate.

Can you work around our fixture list?

Yes. We schedule club work between seasons or between fixtures wherever possible. Tell us your key dates, and we'll stage the installation so the ground is usable when you need it. Larger jobs can be split into stages across more than one off-season to suit the club's budget. We'll confirm dates in writing.

Is PVC-coated mesh worth it for a court?

For many courts, yes. PVC-coated mesh adds a coloured layer over galvanised wire, which looks neater and adds protection against corrosion. Green blends with grass and trees, and black suits modern homes. Plain galvanised mesh is still a good choice where budget matters most. We'll price both finishes so you can compare them side by side.

What mesh size should a court fence use?

50 mm mesh is standard for most courts. 40 mm mesh is available where you want a tighter weave, for example to stop smaller balls. We'll recommend the mesh and wire gauge based on the sport and how hard the fence will be hit. We can show you samples of each mesh size before you decide.

Can you repair our existing ground fencing?

Yes. We replace damaged panels, re-tension slack runs, reset leaning posts and fit new gates. Often a repair restores a fence for a fraction of the cost of replacing it. We'll inspect the ground and tell you honestly which sections can be repaired and which need replacing. Repairs can also be staged across seasons.
